C2SHIP at MU Focuses on Older Adults
Building on a rich history of research to help older adults and others with physical and cognitive challenges, our diverse team works together to develop new healthcare technologies, driven by actual clinical needs, and evaluates them in realistic settings. Research strengths include biomedical sensing, machine learning, health informatics, and cybersecurity. We follow the mission of the multi-site C2SHIP Center to engage academic and industrial partners in joint efforts to develop new technologies and accelerate innovation.

What is an IUCRC?
The Industry-University Cooperative Research Centers (IUCRC) Program funds pre-competitive research, cooperatively defined, with shared value. The National Science Foundation (NSF) provides funding for infrastructure and a framework for IUCRC membership and operation. Members pool their funding investments to address pre-competitive shared needs. The shared project portfolio is cooperatively defined and selected. Members guide the research direction through active involvement and mentoring and receive royalty-free nonexclusive access to IP.
The IUCRC Program was initiated in 1973 to develop long-term partnerships among industry, academia, and government. The NSF invests in these partnerships to promote pre-competitive research of mutual interest, contribute to the nation’s research infrastructure base, enhance the intellectual capacity of the engineering or science workforce through the integration of research and education, and facilitate technology transfer.
